How Cloudflare's security-audit skill reviews code, independently verifies findings and reports results, plus the requirements and limits to understand before using it.
When building a website with AI, we often judge the result by its features.
Does registration work? Can a customer add a product to the basket? Do notifications arrive?
A security review asks different questions. Can a user read someone else's order? Does the server check administrator permissions? Can an AI assistant retrieve data its user is not allowed to access?
Cloudflare's security-audit skill provides a process for investigating questions like these.
A skill is a set of instructions and supporting files for an AI agent. This one defines how an agent explores a project, looks for possible security flaws, verifies candidates and prepares a report.
The full workflow has six phases, from reconnaissance to final reporting. Work is divided between agents and findings undergo additional checks.
Suppose an agent finds a suspicious function. That alone does not establish that a user can access someone else's data. Another control might already reject the request earlier in the path.
In this workflow, a different agent receives the candidate and reads the relevant code again. Its task includes trying to disprove the claim. This helps keep persuasive but incorrect conclusions out of the final report.
The skill includes guidance for web applications, authentication, data isolation and other systems. It also has instructions specifically for AI products.
For a chatbot, an agent might investigate whether another user's information enters a conversation, or whether a model-requested action runs without the necessary permission check.
Making a chatbot change its answer is not, by itself, a confirmed vulnerability. The review needs to trace how untrusted content reaches another person's data or an unauthorized action.
The workflow separates results according to their evidence:
•confirmed - an established vulnerability.
•needs_validation - a candidate blocked by a specific unresolved fact.
•rejected - a candidate disproved during verification.
This keeps an unresolved question from being presented as a confirmed problem and makes the remaining uncertainty visible.
The skill supports focused guidance and a full audit workflow. If you only want the registration flow reviewed, say so explicitly. A full project audit is broader work.
Executing project code and tests requires a strictly isolated environment. Without the required controls, the agent must avoid execution and explain what it cannot validate. Installation alone does not make every kind of check possible.
Requirements and operating modes
Follow the repository's installation instructions and point your AI coding agent at the project. You can start with this request:
Use the security-audit skill to review this project's authentication and authorization code. State what you checked, separate confirmed findings from issues needing validation, and explain any coverage gaps.
My advice is to read the evidence and coverage limits first. If the report contains no findings, check exactly what the agent reviewed and where it could not reach a conclusion.
